Natural Rubber: A Lasting Craftsmanship at the Heart of Acton Boots
At Acton, choosing natural rubber for our boots is no coincidence. This remarkable material combines performance, durability, and adaptability to extreme conditions. A Material at the Core of Nearly All Our Products
At Acton, natural rubber is used in the vast majority of our products. From family boots to utility footwear and safety shoes, rubber outsoles are a must-have, delivering traction, durability, and comfort. Our overshoes are also crafted from natural rubber, making them ideal for cold, wet environments. Rubber isn’t just a component at Acton—it’s a true mark of quality.
From Tree to Boot: The 5 Key Stages of Production
-
Tapping: It all starts with the Hevea tree. By carefully tapping its bark, we collect the sap known as latex—the natural raw material behind our rubber boots.
-
Mixing: The latex is blended with sulfur and other additives to create a homogeneous compound.
-
Calendaring: This compound is then rolled and structured through heated rollers to achieve the right thickness and patterns for production.
-
Assembly: The rubber sheets are cut and carefully hand-assembled on aluminum molds to form the boot’s structure.
-
Vulcanization: Finally, the boots are placed in autoclaves for vulcanization, a process that gives them their defining properties—waterproofing, resistance, and durability. With no seams, all parts fuse together to ensure perfect waterproofing.
